Several C4 Freeview channels to need retuned

RXTVlog mentioned on their Freeview update page yesterday that there were some retunes required for 3 of C4's +1 channels.

I couldn't find confirmation until between me and another Twitter user (who I believe is called Scott), we found them tonight.

Quote:
Changes to Film4+1 and More4+1
As of 5 November 2019 there are changes being made to the way Film4+1 and More4+1 are being broadcast. In order to keep receiving these channels you will need to retune your TV.

Changes to E4+1
As of 14 November there are changes being made to the way E4+1 is being broadcast. In order to keep receiving this channel you will need to retune your TV.

It has been implied that there is to be a changing of the multiplexes these 3 are available on, but as you can see there are no specific details.

Re: Several C4 Freeview channels to need retuned

The first stage of changes happened yesterday and they were:
- Film 4 +1 moved from D3&4 to COM5
- More4+1 moved from BBCB to COM7

Basically both used to be on the multiplexes with the widest availability (i.e. you could receive even on Relay transmitters) and now Film4+1 is on one that is available to 90% of households and More4+1 on one that only about 30%(?) can get. And these percentages refer to coverage, as the lesser uptake in DVB-T2 capable equipment means More4+1 has a smaller potential number of viewers with the equipment to watch.

More4+1 was on an HD multiplex, and after these changes remains so, though this time a multiplex that is "temporary". This has meant you needed an HD capable Freeview tuner (DVB-T2) to get it despite it being transmitted in Standard Definition.

We still don't know what E4+1 is doing on the 14th November but it is likely it will move to D3&4, where Film4+1 just vacated.

Given E4 isn't on D3&4 in Wales, this likely means some other changes will happen, that haven't been announced, for Wales.

Possibilities include Wales getting E4 instead of E4+1 on D3&4, and the current Welsh location for E4 instead becoming E4+1. Or the now partially BBC funded S4C moving to the BBCA multiplex (into the same space BBC Scotland channel uses) and then D3&4 in Wales has the same channels everywhere in UK.

As for the space on BBCB (aka PSB3) there is speculation (from me included) that they've found out how to fit another HD channel onto that multiplex but required the lone SD channel More4+1 to vacate to do it. This is most likely to be filled by CBEEBIES HD/BBC4 HD timeshare that is currently on the limited coverage temporary HD multiplex COM7.

Re: Several C4 Freeview channels to need retuned

DS Forum "kjhskj75" has posted today some COM5 News about Film4 +1:

Quote:
-Together TV has reduced its hours, losing the 3-7am slot.

This is to accommodate Xpanded tv, which previously shared with YourTV.

-Film4+1 has a full 24 hour slot.
See post 497.
