I've seen printers and 3-in-1 machines at really low prices recently. Then I checked the cost of inks and toner... and walked off in disgust.

Mine are expensive BUT they last a very long time. It's been 8 months since I changed them on my Brother scanner and printer.

Certainly beats the pants off Epsons.

Indeed £25 for ink replacement cartridges.

You should count how long the cartridges last in that equation.

Colour laser printer toner lasts ages (1000+ pages). I've had one for 8 years and not needed to change them yet (but then I'm not an overly frequent printer). Toner packs can be had cheaply on ebay or amazon as well. I can get all 4 of mine in a kit for £20 on amazon.

I think some tend to offer their printers cheap and then make their money on the cartridges.

It's a bit like what Sky did with their set top boxes, they offered them cheap or free in the knowledge that they'd make more on the ongoing subscriptions.

Re: is there a better printer than this , for the money please ?

I have the epson ET-2550 printer that has a ink tank on the side of it...newer models are out now that are more compact but it prints around 4000 colour and 4000 black and around £25 to replace all the inks. but I don't think it does duplex printing

Re: is there a better printer than this , for the money please ?

You can find variants here https://www.bestadvisers.co.uk/inkjet-printers. I bought Epson XP 850 and satisfied. It uses inks realy carefully and safe. Also, as for my copying is a plus.
