Yes you'll never have bug free software but then humans make mistakes. Same with paramedics, doctors and the drivers themselves. Human fallibility is something we've long known can cause deaths. Software bugs are ultimately human mistakes given if they're abstracted away from any individual.

Software bugs will probably kill more people in future though as we move more things to automation....
