Re: Classic Shell Alternative
Windows 10 is great once u disable all the data reporting stuff and use 3rd party software instead of their UI.
Windows ME = Migraine Edition was just as bad as 95 lol.

How is an OS great when you have to disable anything and then use third party apps???
An OS is great when it works without any modification!

ALL O/S need modification to a degree, its part and parcel of the PERSONAL COMPUTER experience, whether its disabling an app or using your own image for a wallpaper.

And any version of Windows has to be bludgeoned into submission, usually by diving into the registry.

What a load of bollucks! Disable an app? They don't exist pre W10. Image for wallpaper easy pre W10.

Ok granted as I never used 8 or 8.1 and stand to be corrected. I still think I'm correct though.

Re: Classic Shell Alternative
Win 95 OSR2 with USB was good for its time but I had to brute force install it on my FAT12 system, 98 was an absolute pain. ME was great I really liked it and ran it for several years before going to XP. Then I had the beta of Win7 which I liked so I got the release version on day one. I didn't upgrade to Win10 until it had been out about a year, it's not bad, I get no adverts on it but I have had to tweak it a bit to get it looking like Win7 again using AeroGlass.

Re: Classic Shell Alternative
Windows 98 (second edition) was a damn site better than Win ME. Mind you I can't complain as I got a lot of work out of it at the time.
