Re: Plane Spotters Corner

Just had 4 helicopters (single followed by two more about 500 meters behind and then followed by another one again about 500 meters behind) go overhead.. Must be going to Helitech at Duxford..

Through the bins one had an orange rear engine cover on it.. So quite identifiable

We just had a UFO fly over at very low altitude (I reckon 800 feet). A four-prop job with a high tail in camo.

A400M ?

Eek!

http://gizmodo.com/5844628/a-passeng...f-a-dumb-pilot

Quote:
An All Nippon Airways passenger plane carrying 117 passengers on board experienced a little bit of a scare earlier this month. Why? Because a numb-brained pilot accidentally almost made a Boeing 737-700 fly belly up, as in upside freaking down.

Here's what happened: the co-pilot mistook the rudder trim knob for the cockpit door lock switch so when he "opened the door" for his captain, he actually caused the jet to roll and drop 1,900 meters in 30 seconds. According to internal investigations, "the narrow-body aircraft continued to roll until it reached 131.7 degrees to the left, leaving it almost belly-up. Its nose pointed down as much as 35 degrees at one point."

Re: Plane Spotters Corner

Would rudder trim cause such a severe roll also the alerts wouldn't the alerts have gone crazy??

Re: Plane Spotters Corner

This Iran Air aircraft seems to be missing something, but the pilot does a great job anyway.

Quote:
An Iran Air Boeing 727-200, registration EP-IRR performing flight IR-742 from Moscow Sheremetyevo (Russia) to Tehran Imam Khomeini (Iran) with 94 passengers and 19 crew, was on approach to Tehran's Imam Khomeini Airport around 15:20L (11:50Z) when the crew did not receive a down and locked indication for the nose gear and aborted the approach. Following unsuccessful troubleshooting the crew decided to divert to Tehran's Mehrabad Airport where a low approach confirmed the nose gear was not extended. The crew subsequently performed a landing without the nose gear on runway 29L at about 16:00L (12:30Z) and came to a stand still on both main gear and the nose of the aircraft. The aircraft was evacuated, no injuries occurred.

Looks like another Red Arrows incident, this time an ejector seat issue on the ground

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-15640104

---------- Post added at 15:51 ---------- Previous post was at 15:50 ----------

From the pictures of the smashed canopy it looks like one of the zero-zero seats has fired.. They're reporting a serious injury
