But if you search 'free TV shows' or 'free films' only the Prime stuff is displayed. Personally, I don't see the problem. Surely you can't expect them to hide the charged for stuff unless you specifically request it? They don't want to hide the paid for additions, because clearly they take an additional cut for this material.

Other sites do the same (eg StarzPlay, Apple+, etc).

They've recently added a new tab now "free for me" that you can select which hides all the pay stuff.

And their main rival and market leader - Netflix - does not. Netflix’s strategy is all you can eat for one simple payment (as is Disney+, for the most part - it remains to be seen how often they’ll repeat the premier access experiment with Mulan). Trying to blend inclusive and paid content in one interface isn’t inevitable, or necessary, and it certainly isn’t an optimal customer experience.

Prime and Apple are trying to run video rental libraries as well as streaming TV channels. It is a deliberate strategic decision to blend the interface so both services exist within each other, and users looking for content they have paid to access are automatically upsold content they haven’t.

I didn't know that. It must be a recent addition. I will take a look this evening. It still doesn't answer my gripe about the lack of useful categorization. Netflix implements this well making similar programmes to ones I have enjoyed easier to find. So does More4 although the complete lack of HD content on the V6 app makes this unattractive.

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services

It annoys me how Blu-rays are being filtered out of the equation as well. Options DVD, streaming or expensive 4K. Buying digital is really investing in thin air. Amazon have already erased one of my digital purchases and the hoops I had to jump through to prove I couldn’t view my purchased material.

You can look at it that way if you like. Or you could look at it another way - Amazon can provide that content you are looking for whether or not they have the rights to it. Personally, I find that useful.

Netflix show only their own stuff and the additional content they have the rights to. So if they don't have what you are looking for, it's tough.

You pays your money and you takes your choice, as they say.

Amazon is Prime and GooglePlay all in one.

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services

Now that Amazon Prime shows live sport does anyone know if a tv license is required to use it (even if one doesn't use the sport section)?

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services

BT Sport Ultimate 4K now available on more products, including Amazon Fire TV

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/tech...?ocid=msedgntp

I've tried it on my 4K Firestick and its offering very good 1080P live streams,
but until they are showing something in UHD I cannot comment on the availability of UHD and also Dolby Atmos sound

Re: Netflix/Streaming Services

Rugby last night was in UHD and HDR and worked fine here for video on my 4K Firestick - there was an audio issue which was also present on other devices.

Dolby Atmos is NOT carried on the streaming version.
