Greedy clubs

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...prices-1953170

I reasd this very interesting article on ticket prices by clubs. In the days of Tv and the money they get, you would have thought that clubs would be reasonable in thetre prices.

Two years ago, my son paid £250 to get three tickets to see a game at Spurs, we bought water from Tesco's at 60p per bottle, but when we got in, the same bottle of water was £2.50 and a hot dog was £3.50.

And to buy a shirt is £45.00 which is a rip off, as you can but a cheaper one at a sports shop for £20.

Its about time these clubs placed reasonable costs like a main ticket price £30.00 and then reduced the cost of beverages inside the ground, and sell shirts a reasonable price to.

Football is a very pricey sport for the fans these days, that why they are losing out to armchair sports fans.

Re: Greedy clubs

While I do actually agree with you, Arthur, the problem is (in the Premiere League at least) that the clubs spend so much on their players, and pay salaries that are so high, that most of the Premiere League is heavily in debt. £800 million in the case of Chelsea.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datab...-accounts-debt

Apparently, the average premiere league spends 70% of it's annual turnover on salaries. It's scary to think that a multi million pound company can spend 70% of it's annual turnover on the salary of probably less than 20 people (players, subs, manager coach etc).

Personally I think something needs to be done partly because it's not fair on the fans and partly because if something should happen that caused Sky to reconsider it's position on Premiere League footy, then a lot of the clubs will find their debts unsustainable.

Re: Greedy clubs

I see that you can bet in the bookies on a 'transfer'

they were on about some bloke getting transferred to Arsenal and giving odds of 4/1

I mean - how open to abuse and insider dealing is that

e.g - if loads of people take the odds - just don't transfer him and give the decision makers an 'archer' (Brown envelope with few grand in) or more

Re: Greedy clubs

I do agree that Football clubs in general charge high prices for tickets and also food bought in the stadium and merchandise.

Short sleeve replica shirts are now £55 each which is frankly shocking.

However with the food thing cinemas are also guilty of this. A popcorn costs about £5 but the corn kernels only costs a few pence at most but their response is that's where their profit comes from as the ticket prices mostly go to pay the film companies.

I know this season though Celtic have done a great thing and dropped the price of an adult season ticket by £100 and offering children's season tickets for only £50.
