Re: Plane Spotters Corner

Just a heads up for anybody in the Sussex area. It's the Shoreham air show this weekend. Both today and Sunday. Always a good one. We get plenty of interesting planes stooging about overhead waiting for their cues.

Website is at http://www.shorehamairshow.co.uk/

Note parking on adjacient roads is not permitted. A good view for those with binoculars is available from Mill Hill.

Re: Plane Spotters Corner

Gotta hate codeshare flights, booked KLM to Beijing from Manchester via Schipol, out bound flight operated by China Southern, no seatback entertainmant, five? video screens for the entire economy cabin on an A330, no choice only dubbed Chinese films, shown three times !!

Flight back was a KLM 747, Might have been a Combi as there were only forty odd rows I think. Excellent at seat entertainment and in flight service, the way it should be...

The male passenger, named as John Wildey, was the only person on board other than than the pilot and flying instructors had to talk him through landing the plane.

Mr Wildey, 77, from Doncaster, was forced to take forced to take control of the four-seater single-engine Cessna 172 when his pilot friend fell ill.
Story linky

Lucky guy, I know the Cessna is a very stable aircraft but landing is still a difficult proceedure to get right.

8 foot panel falls off Dreamliner in mid flight:

Boeing said the missing panel fell from the underside of the plane on the right side.
A photo shows a large opening with components and aircraft structure visible inside.
Boeing spokesman Doug Alder said: 'It was the mid-underwing-to-body fairing located on the belly of the airplane on the right side.

My red top today says they got it off. I guess if you do all the right things: light fuel load, no cargo, cool temperatures and some head wind that you can shorten the required take-off runway quite a bit.

Re: Plane Spotters Corner

If anyone is interested, the A350 is doing a low fly by with gear down at Broughton on Thursday at 09.45 (approx). If its as good as when the A380 done a fly by it will be good.
