Saw a little bit of Wimbledon in UHD on Eurosport 2. Very fine picture indeed.

I think the BBC servers were hit - some people couldn't even get iPlater to load.

Does anybody know when the BT Sport 4K channel will be launched, as I'm sure today was the scheduled launch date?

Indeed - however the blue artificial pitch makes it a horrible watch!

I have recorded the live hockey on UHD and HD channels to ascertain how much extra space a recording needs.

Does anyone know if you will get a better picture on a HD TVs by letting the V6 downscale the UHD picture instead of native HD?

Really. I can see the difference much better clarity, sharpness, detail, and motion. Make sure your V6 video settings are correct and your TV settings for example have any noise reduction settings turned off.

I'm sure if you have a UHD tv you would see the difference.

I haven't, but thought down scaled UHD might produce a better picture than HD - will continue to experiment.

I am also interested in the amount of space taken up by UHD recordings compared to the HD equivalent - hence my test recordings (not actually interested in the hockey)

I'd hazard a guess and say it would do.

Take a photo the higher the megapixels are the clearer that picture will stay when you transfer it onto a laptop and zoom in. Lower megapixel pictures will blur more at the same zoom levels.

In other words higher quality will show it's face, even when you alter it.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media

Given HD channels in UK are 1080i but HDTVs are either 720p or 1080p I'd imagine the downscaled 4K is likely to look better as it would be displayed at 1080p I'd have thought.

Re: UHD on Virgin Media

Interesting to learn that even those without a 4k TV are better off using UHD channels when available.

It will take up more recording capacity, so that's worth bearing in mind if space is running low!
