New Ford Cars

Does anyone know if the new 2019 Ford car models still have a C D player, I would not like to lose mine as I like to play my own music,

Re: New Ford Cars

This could be different based on differing models but it's my understanding newer models are charging extra for CD players and they're optional. I drove a 19 focus in April that had no CD player on the dash but did have one installed in the glove box and a quick Google shows this can be normal and can be done to all models for an extra cost. As above though maybe top end ones come with them included below the display.

I drove a 19 Golf too that had a CD player under a monstrous centre display but a Google of the differing models shows smaller screens without a CD player.

Ultimately it appears they can and can't come with CD players and only a brochure or salesperson will be able to advise upon this.

Best bet is to rip CDs to phone and stream via Bluetooth. Or take advantage of Spotify/Similar. I basically just stream Spotify now. Can't remember when I last used a CD.

To stream you need lots of data though.

Do cars that don't have a CD player have a slot for a memory stick as standard?

Either that or Bluetooth connectivity.

That's the luxury of Three for me. But yeah most tracks from a USB stick are generally recognised. As is the above of just ripping the CD to your phone and Bluetooth without data.

Re: New Ford Cars

Spotify premium subscription gives offline playlists.... so no huge data usage

Re: New Ford Cars

I have a 2017 Focus ST-Line which I bought new.

I does have a CD in it but I ripped all my CDs into FLAC format.

I'm waiting to upgrade to a ST in August/ September when the 2019 model is launched.

I do believe the they are phasing out CDs as you can stream to the Sync 3 system.

Re: New Ford Cars

Download FreeRip (http://www.freerip.com/download.php), Run the program and put a CD in you PC drive.

You can tweek the Track titles and CD name, I change from MP3 to FLAC, them rip CD.

I then use MP3Tag (https://www.mp3tag.de/en/) as sometimes with FLAC it misses track titles, I also download cover art and use this SW to add it.

I did originally rip my CDs to MP3, but over 2 weeks I re ripped every CD to FLAC (over 7,000 tracks), I would recomend you have folders for artists.

Once this is done you can put on a flast drive and stick in the card USB port.

No stream from you phone,

I have all my tracks in my phone, and again on 2 128GB flash drives.

One flashdrive has all the music, Audiocast & podcast, and the second has all the humour CDs.

I did this as if i did a random play the last thing I'd want if say Frankie Boyle telling a blue joke with kids in the car.

I just remembered when I had my car serviced in March, I had a KA+ as a courtersy car and it didn't have a CD

Re: New Ford Cars

We've just got an S-Max and it still has a CD player.
USB input to hook up flash drive with music too.

Re: New Ford Cars

The major advantage of a USB stick is all your music is with you and no need to change CDs mid journey if you are on your own.

Plus with sync 3 you can tell it what to play.
