Postage tax from USA help
I am going to purchase a Connie Frances Book. " Among my Souvenirs " From Amazon.co.uk. But the book is originally coming from the Amazon.com in USA. I may have to pay tax on this when it comes. Does anyone bought this way before. Just not sure as the Tax might be dearer than the book

If you are on about import duty then there will be nothing to pay.

Re: Postage tax from USA help
My wife bought some trainers from Amazon US via the UK site. The price listed was the price she paid (cheaper than UK high street price). Also, on the listing there was a link about import duties which might help explain the process.
Cheers

Yes, you are posting in Articles and Information section, all posts here need approval.... I have no idea why this thread is in this section.
---------- Post added at 22:49 ---------- Previous post was at 22:47 ----------
Thread moved out of that section and placed in Entertainment, given that this is about the purchase of a book.

Postage almost anywhere in the world now costs an arm and a leg.
Sending a t-shirt to France cost us £5.50 last year.
A free sample of a plug top lamp was going to cost over $15 from the USA.

Re: Postage tax from USA help
You shouldn'y pay anything other than what the purchase price on Amazon says?
I've bought stuff on the UK site thats come from China, and I paid nothing else.

Re: Postage tax from USA help
Nash I would assume on your invoice that it would tell you the price of postage etc hope that helps, please try and not worry about it as I'm sure you will be fine
If it's possible and to put your mind at rest then maybe you could email or contact the seller to find out the total cost?

Re: Postage tax from USA help
To purchase from Barnes & Noble in the states, the book is $24 99 but the total price with postage is $68 , as the book has about 600 pages and is heavy and that is only a paperback,

When you go to checkout is the full price shown including p&p?
I've never had to pay above the checkout price for anything from Amazon.us.

Re: Postage tax from USA help
Bear in mind that if an item is subject to VAT in the UK and above (I think) £20 you'll have to pay that as well. Some stuff from China is sneaked into the UK by declaring it as a "gift". Luck of the draw but HMRC are clamping down on it.
I got three t-shirts from the US and had to pay the VAT. However they were never available in Europe so are unique.
Speed costs money so anything by a major courier like UPS or FEDEX is quick but pricey.
