Blackberry 8520 Curve
Was given this for Christmas last year, but unless I am upstairs in bed or out in the open I get no signal on it at all. Is this a common thing with Blackberry phones, or is there something I can do to improve signal?

Re: Blackberry 8520 Curve
It would be useful if you could tell us which network you are using with your Blackberry. We have two on Virgin and the signal is nonexistent when wifi is enabled on either of them. Assuming that you have a router on 2.4Ghz that may be part of your problem. Post back and we'll try to help Mark.

Re: Blackberry 8520 Curve
Sorry, was in a rush earlier. I am on Virgin Media, Wifi is never enabled and I have the Superhub for 30MB Broadband.

Re: Blackberry 8520 Curve
No apology needed Mark. Given that you don't use wifi on your Blackberry's then it would seem (from our experience) that you have something else on the 2.4Ghz band interfering with your signal. Do you have anything else, apart from the Superhub, transmitting on that frequency? A digisender to another TV perhaps? If you have a wireless enabled laptop you could download inSSIDer to see if there are other wireless networks transmitting on the same channel as your Shub. Give this a try and let me know

Re: Blackberry 8520 Curve
A scan shows that using the 2.4Ghz band is me, a SKY connection, and a generic netgear128 connection. Me and the generic netgear128 are running on Channel 11, and SKY is on Channel 1.

Re: Blackberry 8520 Curve
Login to your Superhub and change your wireless channel to 6. Keep an eye on the signal strength indicator on the Blackberry to see if it improves. Let me know what happens mate.

Re: Blackberry 8520 Curve
Been a week now, and if the weather is clear then I get a very weak reception, otherwise it doesn't show a signal.

Re: Blackberry 8520 Curve
Have you checked the settings so that the handset is using the 2g and 3g signal and also. In webmail have you had a email saying that you need to validate the email address for the BB as this needs doing from time to time?

Did you have to remove the battery for any reason?
