An A level with fries please....
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7209276.stm
I can see the excuses along the way though...
Flybe - Sorry, your course work has been stuck in fog and has been diverted to Inverness....
Network Rail - Sorry we couldn't mark your papers, the subcontracted staff didn't show up on time and work is going to overrun...
McDonalds - your Diploma is of the highest quality but contains high levels of salt and fat...
So the recognised educational establishments are doing the job properly so we'll get private companies to do it. Whatever next?

What's wrong with getting a qualification while you are earning money?

Nothing - school/college/university students do it all the time.

Re: An A level with fries please....
Well considering the government at present pay financially strapped college students up to £30 to attend college and pass A-levels it seems a fairly cheap alternative to me.Getting the bigger business's and future employers to contribute seems a fair way to get more students trained.Who knows maybe they could even offer business degrees as well.It would add new meaning to the phrase working your way through university.
However IF past governments had used any common sense or forward planning then they would have bent over backwards to retain the apprenticeship system in the first place.Bunch of twonks.

Re: An A level with fries please....
Maybe one of the big pub chains should get in on this as well. "get drunk as you learn" but I suppose most students do that already anyway
