Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

Renault's thinking of pulling out too

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/moto...ne/8343221.stm

Edit > This is in disarray, The FIA wanted to reduce costs but the teams led by Ferrari didn't want this. The FIA need to act now as in tonight.

The tyres situation - will Michelin step in? wasn't the reason why F1 chose Bridgestone over Michelin was, Michelin didn't perform as well.

This is a global competition and if Michelin were to come in, it will look like they are second best to me.

Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

Michelin pulled out as they couldn't see the point in being a single tyre supplier. With one in there the only time they would get publicity was during a failure etc. That's why Bridgestone came up with the stupid two tyre rules so they were still talked about.

Renault have been thinking about leaving for awhile. In fact the reason they didn't get punished for crashgate was because if they did then they would have left the sport instead

Renault will decide by the end of the year whether they're staying in F1.

I wonder who Ferrari are refering to when they say "The guilty party was only uncovered when all the other characters died"?

Jenson visits McLaren,

Quote:
A McLaren spokesman said: "Having just landed at Heathrow, Jenson made a small detour to Woking to say a quick hello."

2 British world champs for a British team that can afford and know how to build a fast car, interesting.

I think that would be a good thing.

Hmm, don't know about that. The internal competition would be difficult to handle, I would have thought. Look at the trouble Alonso caused, it cost them over one hundred million pounds and a loss of all their points for the 2007 season. For the competition to be kept interesting, I would like to think that they were competing not only as teams, but as drivers as well.

Now that is a shame. This sport needs grassroots teams like Brawn to keep the competition alive. It will look even more like a prestige car showroom now.

Re: Formula 1 2010 Season [may contain real time spoilers]

On the contrary with Honda, Toyota, BMW and possibly Renault all pulling out it's quite encouraging for a big manuafacturer to invest in the sport.

Hopefully there will be several more teams including USF1 and Lotus next year to mix it up a bit.

Personally I'm hoping Antony Davidson gets a drive somewhere.

Looks like Jenson will most likely end up at Mclaren - that will be fun. The last time Mclaren had an all brit team was back with Brundle and Blundell if I remember correctly.

I feel a repeat of Alonso and Hamilton coming on. I hope I'm wrong, but as JB will be paid far less than Hamilton, so, I think some friction is inevitable.

Corrected, 1980, John Watson and Stephen South.

Not sure if it's a good or bad move for Button to be looking to drive that Macca, but with Mercedes engines, a great car to base next year's model on, and a team-mate guaranteed to not be a pushover for the title, I'd love to see him stick it to Hamilton!
