Less features in new Virgin Samsung STB

I originally had a Pace box that was replaced with a Samsung to give me the full broadband speed I'd been paying for.
The Samsung box kept freezing and today has been replaced with a new smaller Samsung. Still no Virgin markings.
The new EPG is a lot faster than the old NTL one but is missing lots of features we NTL customers have come to rely on.
You can no longer resequence the channels in the Program Guide. But using the Favourites is no substitute as you can't resequence channels in there either - they are still in numeric channel order!
You used to be able to press red from the Program Guide to switch to a channel and remain in the guide. Now for some reason the red button has been reassigned as page down. Totally unnecessary as there are already page up and down buttons on the remote!
You cannot now set overlapping reminders, or set reminders for multiple programs starting at the same time.
You cannot access the Favourites list from the Program Guide or Mini Guide (blue button). You now have to negotiate several levels of menu to get there.
In Program Information display there is now no indication that a reminder has been set for the program.
I am sure there are other omissions that I haven't noticed yet.
They call this progress. Removing functions we NTL customers have come to expect, and increasing the charges. £5 for non-DD customers is a rip-off.
I urge you all to write to Virgin Media to get these facilities reintroduced at the earliest opportunity.

Re: Less features in new Virgin Samsung STB

The re-ordering of channels function has been removed from this software. Ex-Telewest customers have never had that option, so it was removed.

The newer silver remotes given to Telewest customers doesn't have a page up and down keys, so the colours red and green are assigned for the job of page up and down. They wanted matching software for both NTL and Telewest so the functionality would appear the same to all customers. Must admit, the removal of the option to navigate through channels whilst in menus is rather annoying - but again something that TW customers never had.

Reminder - really?!? Must admit, I haven't set an awful lot of reminders since getting the V+ box - that does seem a little odd.

You can access the Favourites menu from the mini guide by pressing the red button when the mini guide is on screen. Therefore, setting a reminder is now done by pressing OK when you have highlighted your chosen programme.

The removal of those icons is a shame - the reminder one was pretty useful. Mind you the STB is pretty quick to tell you if you have already set a reminder for that programme.

Hope this helps

Re - reordering of channel numbers:

When I set up my favourites on the V+ I added some more on after the initial set. These come in below the originals in the list, not in numerical order.

May be worth trying and add your favourites in the order you want them.

If I set a reminder I get an icon next to the programme in the guide and mini-guide.

I certainly do on my V+ box. Not so sure about my Samsung though...

My wife has written 3 letters on this issue and someone from the Chief Executive's office is to get back to her by phone tonight. I'll let you know.
