Agressive sales pitch
Got a phone call from Virgin's Indian call centre today trying to sell me a mobile contract.Told him I wasn't Interested, wouldn't take no for an answer and kept rabbiting on about the various tariffs.Told him again "no" and he starts on about sim card packages.
No matter how many times I told him I wasn't interested he wouldn't have it.
Ended up having to hang up on the annoying sod.

Re: Agressive sales pitch
I never "end up" hanging up on anyone. It's the first thing I do, after stating clearly that I'm fine for phones/tariffs/solar panels or whatever it is they're selling.
The really persistent ones simply won't hear the word 'no'. As long as you're still on the line, you're still a potential sale. So get off the line.

Re: Agressive sales pitch
A mate of mine used to ask callers like this to wait while he went to turn the TV off or whatever then left them hanging on while he carried on regardless...

Re: Agressive sales pitch
I just say I'm not interested and then I put the phone down.Just as I do with doorstep callers except I close the door. Not had one of the latter for months.

Re: Agressive sales pitch
If you feel bad hanging up just start talking French or something and the person in India will soon give up

I had the same call last week and have had it a couple of times before.
No matter what you say they try to get you to take something else.
You don't need a new phone, well, how about a sim for someone else, etc., etc.
Just no!!

Unfortunately an increasing number of companies are using the fact that they have a "relationship" with you to basically ignore your expressed wish (via the TPS) not to receive sales calls.

Re: Agressive sales pitch
I just simply do not answer any number I don't recognise or any withheld calls. If it's a genuine call they will leave a message and I will get back to them.
