The point should have been obvious. Or are you trying to be difficult? Extremists have the potential (and proven record) to blow people up, stab them, shoot them and prey on others to convert to their filthy cause.

Do you think the occupation of Afghanistan has been a success? I hope in some ways it has modernised the country but I wouldn't rush to label it a success. I think - and I could be wrong - that Iraq seems to be working out ok though.

Obviously not, that's why I said when we and the USA went in at first we should have bombed the hell out of the Taliban, but we all know what's happened now, back in the hands of terrorists.

Unfortunately, with asymmetric warfare (where the insurgents are indistinguishable from the general populace, because they live amongst them), "bombing the hell out of the Taliban’ would have involved bombing the hell out of innocent civilians, which sort of defeats the purpose of being there to protect the general populace from the Taliban.
