Question Unwanted 'Activate Windows' Watermark

I bought a reconditioned Dell for 65 quid

Windows 10 Keeps giving me the Watermark - "Activate Windows" etc

Created a 'Remove.bat' file with the code:
@echo off
taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe
explorer.exe
exit

set up task scheduler in various ways: run on startup, run at certain times etc
it works but the watermark keeps coming back the next day

I tried a Reghack but the 'Paint' Variable seems to be a zero

any thoughts?

I would be surprised if a second hand Dell for £65 originally came with Windows 10 .. but you never know ..

Re: Unwanted 'Activate Windows' Watermark

It could have a Windows for reconditioned machine key. Is there a sticker with a part of key covered by a scratch panel? Scratch off and use to activate. On a lappy we bought we had to upgrade Win10 before it would activate.

turns out there was a key on the side of the box

partially obscured by a kind of sticker thing

Put it in and it's all sorted now

don't know why I didn't think of that before duh!
