George Groves vs Chris Eubank Jr - WBSS Super MW Title - Feb 18th
George Groves (c) vs Chris Eubank Jr Super Middleweight title fight, Semi-final of the WBSS MW Tournament
Live on ITV Box office
Make or break time for Chris Eubank Jr. He absolutely has to win this otherwise he'll be two for two losses when it comes to decent opposition. He's made a career so far out of fighting cardboard, it's time to put up. As above, he absolutely cannot afford to lose this, it would relegate him to domestic titles for the foreseeable future.
I'm an unknown, Eubank has the potential to do some decent work inside, which he'll have to because there's no way he's boxing at range with Groves. There's question marks on just about everything when it comes to Eubank. Lack of power, poor defence and so forth. Make no mistake, this is the biggest fight of his career, Groves can bang.
Eubank needs to show good movement, both head and feet and fight on the inside here. Groves has too much reach, too much power to for Eubank to risk standing and trading shots.

Unless Eubank has suddenly improved a lot Groves will beat him quite easily.

I'll make a prediction, if it goes to points Eubank will win, he hits more point scoring punches than anyone I think I've seen in a while

Isn't just Eubank either, Groves can't afford another loss.
The SMW division isn't exactly brimming with top level talent. Eubank spent the best part of a year calling out Golovkin at Middleweight, and when Golovkin got bored of him and called his bluff, Eubank along with his dad mysteriously vanished. Groves and Eubank are literally fighting up there because they're both scared of the Golovkin and Canelo's
One's lost to Billy Joe and the other has lost to Badou Jack.
Groves has the power, Eubank is quicker. Groves has the range, Eubank likes to be in and out on the inside. It's very much an interesting fight.

Eubank needs a stoppage, he's been typical so far. Absolutely clueless when a cardboard cut out isn't in front of him. He's been absolutely ranged from the first bell.
Eubank is starting to get there but he really needs a stoppage or multiple knockdown rounds.
Eubank can't see, Groves looks a bit tired.
Horrible from Eubank. Can't follow instructions, just hopeless. He could fluke this and still be a loser overall. The loss to BJS was always used as evidence he hasn't got what it takes to be a top level fighter. Tonight he's absolutely cemented it.
The George Groves resurgence is flying on. Eubank and his world stage career are pretty much done before it a begun. The hype, gone.
Can't believe Chris Eubank had the audacity to celebrate that and climb the ropes. That was a shocking performance but fans were wise to this, a LOT of people refused to buy into the hype job he is. He's got a long crawl back to this stage if we ever see him here again.
Official decision - George Groves, comfortable UD.
The only note being Eubank congratulated and clapped Groves. Wise move.

I'm surprised how bad Eubank was, was it me or did he trip himself up a couple of times throwing wildly, pretty poor technique if so

He threw them but they didn't score, glad I didn't put money on that but then I didn't think it would even go the distance

He did, but was also just swinging so hard Groves could blow him over. He ignored absolutely everything his corner put out there for him. Eubank has no set the bar for why you shouldn't just keep beating up stationary bums to pad your record. The media are passing it off as a Groves masterclass, but in fairness, Groves just deployed a solid jab and ranged him all night, it was boxing 101.
https://streamable.com/1d3aq Naseem destroys him. It's a scathing attack mind more than an actual review of him.
