Re: Freeview retune what a complete cock up!

I'm on a wildlife forum and have taken people through the whole sticky process of retuning, also had my mother on the phone and talked her through the entire process whilst watching my own freeview box crash three times on me... thankfully, I'm happy to report that 90% of the people I've helped have been ok, some have yet to retune (because of yesterdays little upset) and yes, our box is absolutely fine now. However, I've been telling people that it's GOOD to retune every so often and that it's a good habit to get into as it ensures they're familiar with their equipment. Had one enquiry about aeriels and suggested a splitter working alongside a signal booster (trust me, appropriate for the situation) and it seems that all is well with the world - except for the few that haven't retuned yet but will be doing it over the next day or so.
They're all aware that the retuning hasn't ended yet, but hey, if they're given the right info to do something in good basic non-jargonese, they can get through it... and thats good enough for me
edit: just had a report from someone retuning their TV instead of their freeview box.... hopefully, I've got them going in the right direction now

Re: Freeview retune what a complete cock up!

Had to re-tune 1 box a PVR & a DTV no problems at all.Thinking about it they all seemed fine before I re-tuned them. I am sure if I really looked hard I would find the reason to bother. But as I said no problems & it all took 5 mintues to set the ball( so to speak ) rolling.

I think the other site you mean is .... Diplodocs.....

I still haven't done my recorder yet but did find the manual so I will keep my fingers crossed that missing any updates over the last few months hasn't made it impossible to do this re-tune.

ITV3 and ITV4 have only vanished for those poeple in certain areas, it's not anything to do with the equipment but instead the capacit of the transmitters

I had some problems with retuning on a 2 year old humax PVR. I was missing Ch5, ITV3 and 4. I have now retuned 3 times and I think I've got all channels now. The trick that seemed to work for me was to delete all channels before retuning, so you might want to give that a try.

Re: Freeview retune what a complete cock up!

I have retuned my Sony TV and DVD Recorder and both will only pick up 44 services out of a possible 101...yet my Uncle who has a different area can pick up everything. Strange...

Full re-tune, I fixed it by restoring factory defaults

Yes, I'm sure this is what a lot of people are not doing and as a result the equipment is not loading the new network ID table and hence not finding channels.

I will have to try & reset my Samsung TV`s, both have freeview built in, both had perfect reception on BBc1 & 2 before, now, crap. Blocking & unwatchable. Sorry I retuned.

Just to amplify:

Quote:
Some viewers who receive their Freeview service from a relay transmitter will no longer be able be able to receive ITV3 and ITV4. As a result of moving position on the Freeview platform, a small percentage of homes will find they lose these services after retuning.
