Phishing email

I received a phishing email, so looked in HELP, to find out how to inform VM.

The instruction was to forward the email to phishing@virginmedia.com.

Within 10 seconds I got a reply, in my SPAM folder(!!!), from Mail Delivery System <postmaster@virginmedia.com>, telling me that the email, addressed to phishing@virginmedia.com, failed to send.

Is this a glitch with the VM mail server, or does this email address, from the VM HELP section, not exist???

Re: Phishing email

Hello,

This is an automatic reply to confirm that your email has been received by Virgin Media Internet Security.

Thank you for informing us of a potential phishing email purporting to be from Virgin Media. A list of phishing emails we are already aware of is published on our Community forum:

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...ernet_Security

If you are trying to forward an email via Virgin Media Webmail and it is rejected due to containing Spam content, this is because there is outbound spam filtering on your webmail account. Should this happen, please rest assured that we are already aware of the spam email in question and have updated our spam filters to ensure it is no longer able to be sent to our platform.

If you haven't already done so, it would be useful to reply to this autoresponder with the headers of the email in question, this will enable us to trace the origin of the email and report it to the relevant system owner for investigation.

You may find details of how to retrieve email headers in the relevant help file of your email client or at the following link:

https://help.virginmedia.com/system/...n?query=header

Or:

For more information on how Virgin Media deal with phishing incidents and what to do if you've fallen victim to one, please visit http://www.virginmedia.com/securityhub.

Please note this email address is only for the purposes of reporting phishing emails purporting to be from Virgin Media. We are also unable to deal with customer queries or technical issues through this mailbox.

Thank you for your report.

Kind regards,

Virgin Media Internet Security
