Some info on Pension Credit.

https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/sa...ension-credit/

And an online tool to check if you qualify.

Loads of good press for auntie at the moment, there's this, the meet the next PM debacle and now they can't even get the mastermind final done without controversy, if I were 75+ I'd ask for a refund

Yet they still put out the best drama on TV atm. Summer of Rockets, Killing Eve, Years and Years, Gentleman Jack., Fleabag... And the best documentaries e.g. The Planets Each to their own but it's better than the imported repeated crap on other channels - but it does all need paying for.

It's a bit like Tax cuts everyone wants them but they still want the same NHS, Police and public services. Not sure whether pension credit is the right criteria for free licences, but not sure what else they can easily use, and as mentioned pensioners watch the most TV.

You keep harping on about that as if they were exclusive to BBC. Out of the list only one is a BBC production and not exclusive.

Fleabag produced by: Two Brothers Pictures for BBC, Amazon Prime (Germant, Netherlands, Singapore and USA) and YLE Finland.

Gentleman Jack produced by: Look Out Point Ltd, BBC and HBO.

Years and Years produced by Red Production Company for: BBC, HBO and HBO Spain.

Killing Eve produced by: Sid Gentle Films, Endeavor Content and BBC America for:BBC, BNN-VARA, Bravo Network Canada, Canal+, HBO (spain), RTE, and WOWOW Prime (Japan).

There is some good stuff on the BBC, Mr K, on that we can agree. However, if they tackled the waste and stopped shelling out for the dross, and maybe cut their TV channels down to two, they would make a nice little saving and have some more worthwhile channels to boot (ie without so much junk).

I wonder how much it costs Virgin Media to run its UHD channel? It only broadcasts during prime time, but the programmes are good and there are no advertisements. That is the kind of quality they should be seeking out for all of their broadcast hours, and maybe we wouldn't be so annoyed with them. If they can't find anything good for daytime, they should close down during that time and save money. If we want to watch rubbish, there are plenty of other channels out there doing that already.

Re: BBC to scrap free licence fee for over-75s

Here just a bit of old news for some people who do not know the seriousness of not paying for a TV licence... yes that oblong box that sits on the sideboard or fitted to a wall.

Re: BBC to scrap free licence fee for over-75s

Just received my letter today telling me that we will now have to pay the TV licence from next June unless we are on pension credit. So I better start saving now.

Pay it monthly by direct debit- that’s what we do (like our Council Tax and Utilities).

How much a month do you manage to pay for Virgin Media? Their line rental alone is more than the BBC licence.
