Some tactical voting for Javid to ensure Stewart is out this round according to journalists on Twitter.

He has no idea how nuts he looks and sounds on TV. And whatever you think of Teresa May’s withdrawal agreement, proposing to basically pick it up where she left off is a totally bonkers strategy.

I think he does. He sounds different. He is a spoiler candidate in the end, I think the Johnson camp views him as someone with a suicide vest willing to detonate himself to damage Johnson in a battle he can't win. You had four Tory candidates talking of all the tax cuts they would make and he is sitting there saying you can't afford it. He knows it's deeply unpopular with the members, he is deeply unpopular with the members, but it resonates with the wider public. The longer he is in the worse it is for Johnson after he wins.

Re: Leadership who is the next PM?
Probably setting his stall for the next Leadership Election after BJ implodes upon contact with the actuality of the PM’s job

Good to see democracy in action !
What a way to choose a leader of a country, whoever has been backstabbed last then voted in by 0.2% of the population..

Except, as we’ve observed endlessly in this thread over the past couple of weeks, we don’t ever directly elect an executive in the UK. Westminster doesn’t, Holyrood doesn’t, the Senedd doesn’t, Stormont doesn’t. The only exceptions are city region metro-mayors, where they exist.
Parties elect their leaders, The Queen appoints a PM on advice as to Parliment’s confidence. This arrangement has suited both main parties from time to time, a fact Boris was doubtless aware of when trolling about it with that opinion piece, no matter embarrassing the Left would now like it to seem.

On the contrary, he wants to be the one representing us at all the most important occasions internationally and steering the cabinet. If you don’t have the presence that tends to prompt people to take you seriously, then they tend not to take you seriously. It was fairly obvious to me that he lacks the instinctive awareness that his off-the-ball game is actually important. Squirming around on his chair, staring at the floor and looking like his batteries had gone flat for a minute at a time just because it’s someone else’s turn to speak really isn’t Prime Ministerial behaviour.

Yes he does seem to have done something outside politics and talks sense and honestly. Definitely in the wrong party, or he could be the new chief troublemaker
Wonder who they'll elect when Blobby doesn't deliver Brexit on 31/10?

They don't elect a new leader every week, they will stick with the new one for quite some time.
