Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

Racing UK becomes Racing TV as Irish tracks join the new channel on January 1.

https://www.sportinglife.com/racing/...cing-tv/155580

Quote:
From next year, Racing TV will broadcast live racing from 61 racecourses, equating to over 70% of all racing from Britain and Ireland, including nearly 90% of all Group and Graded races. It means that Racing TV will have only one day without any live racing outside of Good Friday and four days at Christmas.
Quote:
Each of the 61 racecourses will have its own dedicated live stream available on Racing TV Extra, a feature of Racing TV’s digital platform. This means live coverage of every British and Irish race in its entirety, as well as uninterrupted paddock, going down and unsaddling coverage, will be available to Racing TV members. Racing TV Extra will be available via the website, mobile and TV Apps for all members, whose membership fee will remain the same.

Sky Sports Racing announce its line-up ahead of launch on the 1st of January.

http://www.attheraces.com/news/2018/...head-of-launch

Quote:
Alex Hammond, who has spent over 15 years at Sky Sports News, arrives as a full-time lead presenter, while viewers can expect to see former Group 1 winning jockey Freddy Tylicki on a regular basis as a guest analyst. Also joining Freddy Tylicki for regular race analysis are Josh Apiafi, the former head of the Professional Jockeys Association, and Jamie Lynch, who is leaving his post as Chief Correspondent at Timeform to become Sky Sports Racing’s Senior Racing Analyst
Quote:
Sky Sports Racing will be Sky’s fifth sports channel dedicated to a single sport and will be produced at Osterley in a new dedicated Sky studio facility. The channel will broadcast over 700 UK fixtures in full HD to approximately 14 million homes and will be available to all basic satellite and cable subscription packages, with no Sky Sports subscription required.

First of the legal streamers to go bust!

Only 50k subscribers - I would imagine this will make it very difficult for new streamers in the foreseeable future.

Apparently they had 50,000 customers and were taking in £300,000 a month.

Without a Smart TV app or platform partnership with Virgin Media or Sky in place in a timely manner they pretty much made their own bed.

I know it was only 50 quid but what annoyed me the most is buying a pass for the Dutch football when they didn't actually end up showing that many Eredivisie games.

Some of the voice work on their programming is hilarious though. I'm sure it's the same couple of blokes putting on different accents.

Refunds - have a laugh

What do you expect for £50 pa - one born every minute.

Income £300k pm, but how much did the rights cost?

The thing is that was Eleven sports, do you think a company like Amazon would get into the same difficulties, I think not.

Sky One will show all 3 live premier league games on Boxing Day. A good deal for non sports customers even if the games are a bit naff!

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

Collapse of Eleven can't come quick enough. 50,000 sounds about 40,000 more than I thought they would have though.

As for Amazon? Why would they get involved. Their isn't a market for online/streaming sports...their Tennis coverage has been a similar disaster.

These streaming services need to stick to On Demand content and leave the live stuff to the TV providers.
