Re: Plane Spotters Corner

An Airbus A400M flew over where I live about 9am this morning. The one time I never had my phone with me to take a pic. It was descending into Broughton

It was ZM403, one of the first delivered. Did a TOGA, not a full-stop landing.

They're certainly impressive beasts.

Thanks for that info, it certainly was impressive, I`m only about 6 miles from Broughton, so it was really low over here

Re: Plane Spotters Corner

RAF certainly ramping up their hours lately. Just had a Tornado 3-ship pass overhead, not often you see that. ILS into Liverpool and North up the river.

Shame I'm not flying today as it would have been nice to have that traffic in sight

There was a Lancaster as well. I wonder if it was something to do with the Queens birthday.

Haven't heard anything about a Lancaster through the local zones.

However: Soon after the Tonka show one of the Brize Norton C130J's did an approach via the Isle of Man

Dramatic footage captures the moment an immense passenger plane was almost whirled across a runway as it attempted to land.

The Emirates Airlines aircraft, which had flown from Dubai, had just touched land in Dusseldorf, Germany on Thursday, before it flew into the midst of a powerful storm.

Re: Plane Spotters Corner

There's an Open Skies inspection flight being conducted tomorrow by a Russian Air Force Antonov AN30.

Route will be from Chester heading north up the coast to Whitehaven then turn east to Scarborough via Harrogate (wonder why )

It will then route South West back over the Pennines to Crewe and head back to Brize Norton. These flights are usually at about 4-5,000ft so it should be possible to get a decent blimp at it if you're anywhere along the way.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_on_Open_Skies

...forgot to mention. Due over Chester at about 10:50, Scarborough at Midday and Crewe at 12:30

Antonov AN-22 on the way into Prestwick tonight. Currently over the Lakes about 25 minutes out.

You don't see these bad boys out very often.
