I imagine some City fans would have had some problems watching that match, especially in the last ten minutes.

As a boxing fan I'm inclined to think yes, it is extremely unfair. Sky/BT on average are paying something like £9m per game for the Premiership (Amazon are paying an absolute pittance but we will leave that aside for now). Yet they can't find £20m or so to put major boxing events on the main channels?

Essentially idiots - like me - pay for it and they realise there's a demand there. PPV football has been tested (albeit alongside a subscription option) with Sky's PremPlus service, on cable and as far back as ITV Digital.

Albeit it wasn't the 'main' games of each weekend, the subscription option got numbers and the individual match purchases were miniscule. I suppose ultimately football drives £70+ a month subscriptions and boxing doesn't.

I'm not sure what the answer is to be honest. As you say as long as people such as yourself are willing to pay they'll continue to do it this way.

Agree totally - only answer is to stop subscribing to Ppv events.

Wait 7 to 14 days and these boxing fights are shown in their entirety on the main sports channels.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

Just spoke to a customer service guy from Sky regarding BT Sport available via Sky, Unfortunately I was told it looks like there has been another delay on this and will now be available via Sky some point June this year.

Extremely frustrating

As you say extremely frustrating. I wonder what the delay is? Mind you if BT lose anymore football rights I might not even bother subbing to them.

I remember reading something from the Head of Sport at Sky when they did their first PPV, he said:

'We only need one person to pay for it to make money'

or words to that effect.

Crazy thing is cost of boxing PPV in US. "At essentially a third of the price, it’s no wonder Wilder-Fury will sell better in the UK than in the US, where boxing has been relegated to a niche sport."

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

La Liga TV is launching on Sky on 13th January.

Will be free to view for 2 weeks then £5.99 per month after that.

Sky are NOT retailing this channel, customers will need to subscribe via premier Sports website.
