I agree. I pay £10.00 per month for ESPN on SKY just now. If BT Sports costs £10.00 per month I'm no worse off than I am just now. I do expect SKY Sports to jump up by £1 or £2 come July though.

It's not looking too good for VIP customers if BT Sports doesn't go into the XL package. To keep viewing the sports content they currently access they'll need to pay an extra £10.00 for BT Sports and potentially £1 or £2 to cover any SKY Sports price increase. £12 on top of what you currently pay for XL is pretty steep. Is there any suggestion at all that Virgin will reduce XL or VIP once ESPN drops out of the package?

Well Chad plenty will be revealed next week so l guess we will maybe a bit wiser then but as regards to the VIP pack or XL pack we won't know till some time in July one suspects.

My Dad is becoming anxious! He works hard all week and never goes out to the pub. He enjoys his football on a Saturday and Sunday. He just wants to know what is happening to XL.

Although he has XL he hardly ever watches a HD channel. He could drop down to L then add BT Sports, if it's going to be £10.00 per month, and he won't be any worse off other than losing non-free HD channels, some +1 channels and some on demand content. I'm sure my Dad could live with this.

He could do that now with ESPN for only £6 or £8. I'd be interested to know why he hasn't.

£10 seems to be the rumour for Sky, we will see if it is the same for VM...

Are you suggesting that VM will subsidise the cost? I can't see them doing that or BT allowing it. BT could quite easily put a clause in the contract that they are not able to put it in their top pack.

Not a chance that it is.

BT are not to going to invest all this money and then allow a rival to strengthen their platform and in turn weaken BT's own. Bt will want to have the best deals when it comes down to their sports.
Otherwise defectors from Sky may well choose VM over BT.

BT to screen sport free to superfast broadband subscribers

BT is set to give free access to its sports channel showing live Premier League football to a million subscribers who take its high-speed fibre optic broadband service.

The telecoms giant is expected to announce the plan on Friday when it unveils full-year figures likely to show profits up five per cent to £2.5billion for the year to March 31.

It is also set to reveal the price of BT Sport for subscribers who take the channel direct from BT rather than via rival broadcasters such as Sky. City bank Nomura reckons this will be £10 a month.

He doesn't know his arse from his elbow when it comes to these type of things. I'm just trying to keep him right. Whenever I suggest changes, or moving to SKY, he tells me to speak to my Mum as she pays the bills

Pretty interesting. There was a suggestion from someone who completed a BT survey that SKY customers who move from SKY Broadband to BT Infinity, but keep SKY TV, will get BT Sports for free on the SKY platform.

How much is the cheapest "high-speed fibre optic broadband service" offered by BT? I've tried to get a price from their website but it keeps trying to bundle me up with other services.
