Re: What have you just bought?
2,000 Turkish Lira (for our holiday to Northern Cyprus in July).
There was a Sainsburys Bank offer of 20 Lira per £ above the normal rate, so we bought it in advance - the rate has changed from £1 = 260 Turkish Lira last September, to £1 = 391 Turkish Lira.

Am I missing something or is 2,000 TL = £5.11?
Has Tory austerity finally hit home?

Re: What have you just bought?
Had a new sofa delivered to-day and then we went out for lunch and on the way back saw a white sofa in Sue Ryder going cheap so the wife said by it. So we have now replaced both sofas in the living room.

Re: What have you just bought?
A new fridge freezer. I didn't buy it was replaced via extended warranty and installed today. 2 weeks without a fridge freezer was wasn't easy going. Such a relief to have it all sorted now.

I missed a decimal point out - the rate we got was 3.91 to the pound....

Phew!
Many years ago when I worked in Batman, E. Turkey, the TL exchange rate seemed to change on a daily basis and subsequently rose from the low hundreds to countless thousands before they finally revalued it. Good job I was paid in US$...

Excellent peanut and I bet it was very difficult living without a fridge freezer. I have been without a Oven for the last week now as when the kitchen fitter came to fit our kitchen the oven housing tower unit was damaged and of course the old oven had been ripped out so the replacement housing unit is getting delivered on Saturday and the kitchen is getting fitted on Monday and should be completed on Tuesday. Living without the oven has been extremely difficult with a family of 4, so I can imagine the difficulties you have experienced over the last 2 weeks. Glad it's all sorted out now for you.

Re: What have you just bought?
New doors for the kitchen and living room. They are different to what I usually have as at the moment I have plain glass ones which are an utter nightmare to keep clean as they seem to be always be covered nose marks form the dog peeking through.
