Re: Partygate & Beergate discussion
Now I think the end is nigh and he'll resign. If he asks the queen for a G.E I don't think she'd agree to it now. Not much more to add.

Re: Partygate & Beergate discussion
These silly games are losing voters, and the idea of the 1922 changing the rules on confidence votes sickens me, it like a badly written st trinian's school play

About time it all got a re-shuffle. Next thing: Get Borris out!

BREAKING: Ben Wallace Defence Secretary, just now:
Quote:
A number of us have an obligation to keep this country safe,no matter who is PM. The Party has a mechanism to change leaders and that is the mechanism which I advise colleagues to use. In the meantime, the public would not forgive us if we left these Offices of State empty.

Re: Partygate & Beergate discussion
He’s not resigning as PM, wording has changed to he’s resigning as Tory leader, could still cling to being PM for a bit longer….

I’ll take 1pm.
I suppose technically do we mean his first words at the lectern or the meeting with Her Maj.

Re: Partygate & Beergate discussion
Confirmed: Boris Johnson will resign as Conservative leader today - he will continue as Prime Minister until the autumn.
A Conservative leadership race will take place this summer and a new Prime Minister will be in place in time for the Tory party conference in October. - Chris Mason, BBC Political Editor.

Re: Partygate & Beergate discussion
What I have always said when a leader resigns is that there should be a new general election.
Let the people decide!
Many people may not agree with whoever is chosen as leader.
Many people may have changed their mind and feel they need a different party all together in power.
