Re: Partygate & Beergate discussion
BREAKING: Two sources say Boris Johnson is game planning a reshuffle *now*
I hear he has told allies that he is ‘calling Graham Brady’s bluff’ - Anna Mikhailova - Deputy Political Editor, Mail on Sunday.
What did I say this morning?
He’s going to plunge the country in to a Constitutional crisis, if we’re not already technically there.

Yes, confirmed. Apparently, Gove threatened to resign if pm didn’t announce his resignation by 9pm.

I guess Gove isn't as important as he thought he was

Re: Partygate & Beergate discussion
So what scenario has Johnson got planned out in his head?
Survives this week because the 1922 committee won't change the rules until Monday. Presumably, he hopes Starmer is fined and Labour enters a leadership fight and that distracts the Tory Party from trying to oust him? But this has gone way too far so how can the party go back to normal after this level of rebellion?

Think you've hit an all-time low tonight if you consider promoting a known sexual predator is a minor issue. You should be ashamed.

He's planning on flashing the cash tomorrow in a hope of distracting us all.

Re: Partygate & Beergate discussion
Like a Lib Dem manifesto he can pledge to spend as much as he wants. It’ll never come to it.

Flashing the cash has now been delayed until next week apparently

Re: Partygate & Beergate discussion
If ever proof was needed that the UK doesn’t function it’s that the executive can be held hostage by one man who refuses to see what everyone else can who has maintained his position through jobs and patronages with absolutely no checks and balances.

Well, I’ve heard it said tonight, UK needs a written Constitution, no it doesn’t, America’s isn’t doing them any favours, they can’t rid themselves of the 2nd Amendment and because of it, right there, in written text, America won’t rid itself of its bad gun culture, costing many lives.

Also, let's put it in perspective here. Johnson defying his party's protests is bad for the party and the Government but it isn't a constitutional crisis. He is still the leader of the party and he still commands the confidence of the commons technically.
Yes, he has refused to read the writing on the wall but all the Tories are doing is trying to make him jump before he is pushed. If they want to remove him they can do so but formally kicking him out.
