I find this shameful. For such a prestigious sport event to be given this lack of airtime on terrestrial tv is just criminal.

IMO cricket shot themselves in the foot when they agreed a deal with Sky years ago. They got greedy and now the game is suffering .

Funny how they have changed their stance now they have lost their monopoly on football.

They haven't, this has always been SKY's stance since BT Sports launched. SKY have always been open to wholesale BT Sports and in return they'd allow BT to wholesale SKY Sports.

Well, given this is about pricing, exactly how much is the customer expected to pay to access all this on their TVs? I have no intention whatsoever of getting Blinkbox, Playstation, Sky and the like which will all cost me more!

You only have to compare what we are paying to Sky for their movies with the other options available on alternative equipment to see how much they are overcharging for Sky Movies.

You can talk about the exclusivity arrangements with the film studios that have to be paid for if you like, but the number of hours of content you get on Sky Movies is very small when compared with what you get on Netflix.

When you weigh it all up, Sky are simply raking it in at our expense. It will change with time, but it's the competition that will bring it about.

I never mentioned exclusivity agreements nor how many hours each service has so not sure why you've mentioned it , my post just showed theres lots of choice for movies and at a budget to suit all , if you find Sky Movies on VM too expensive DONT pay it simple , you mention Netflix has more choice so just stick with that and save a bundle.

Yeah, I know you didn't but I did because that's normally the response we get when someone says that Sky Movies is too expensive.

My point was that most people in these hard times don't have the money to buy alternative equipment and so most only watch what is available to them on terrestrial, cable or satellite.

If you need other equipment to watch these other films from different providers, that is not really competition, because they are just catering for a relatively small minority. That is how Sky have continued to get away with it.

Sky Movies on Sky £16 Premium HD £5.25 total £21.25
Sky Movies on VM £19.50 Premium HD £7 total £26.50

Now TV movies pass £8.99 , Now TV box to access it £9.99 (One off) total £18.98 so basically you save right from the first month , so as I said theres cheap options out there for both services and devices.

These particular services may not be what your after however its still an option for people as is the cheaper Netflix at £5.99 or Lovefilm Instant at £4.99 so as you can see movies are available to all budgets which was my initial point.
