From the BBC report:
"As part of the deal, BT has said it will show at least one match involving each participating British team for free every season."

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

And what about this from BBC News

Quote:
John Petter, boss of the company's consumer division, told BBC Radio 5 live the new deal would mean customers having to pay for some of the matches.

"These games are going to need to be chargeable, that's true. But they'll be far more affordable than today's competition," he said.
Is he referring to the viewers who relied on ITV for the CL matches or possibly another BT Sports channel at extra cost?

So all in all that means 5 matches involving British teams a season plus the final?.

There are going to be some hard financial decisions for many customers come 2015 as something going to have to give.

I wouldn't be so sure on that Chad someone on DS forum said they don't have to show as many FTA games from the British teams not sure if thats correct.

Not really. Sky should be able to cut their costs because they no won't have to pay for the CL rights.

BT have said their costs will be cheaper than they have been previously, so in theory it should save money.

It is down to Sky cut costs to make the price savings now. If they don't it just proves their massive greed.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

IMO they won't need to show it in FTA channel like ITV they will just unencrypted their channel in order to satisfy that requirement; I stated before they were lacking a bit of content for their channels and this will bolster their proposition and cement their position

Given BT's past history Harry l would say MM has hit the nail on the head.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24879138

A BT spokesman said "These games are going to need to be chargeable, that's true. But they'll be far more affordable than today's competition. So today, to get the whole competition, you typically have to pay Sky £40 or so a month. The pricing is not being announced today, but I can say that this will be far more affordable than currently."

So it looks like BT sports is going to become more expensive than it's current £15.00 per month, but less than £40.00. I can't see SKY Sports decreasing in price. I can see BT Sports asking Virgin back round the table to renegotiate their deal come 2015. Of course we can only wait and see however it looks like football fans are are going to be paying out more than ever in 18 months time

Dont think BT are any different from BSKYB theyve haven't paid those exhuberant amounts to make all their key British games FTA , its all about driving subscriptions the FTA games are probably just to meet UEFA's requirements.

Like Den says things are going to get pricey.

I agree with our chum. In 2 years time how much will a subscription to SKY Sports and BT Sports cost? £50.00 per month? £60.00 per month?

It's really getting to the stage where it's going to be cheaper to buy a season ticket for your local team and go to the game every second week.
