New Sky+HD Box
Hi All,
Having a new Sky box delivered tomorrow (bought from Ebay and 100% legit), now I have read on AV Forums that you should force a firmware update, is this correct, and also with the viewing card will I have to perform the firmware upgrade before I insert the card? Obviously I will have to phone Sky and pair the card with the box.

Re: New Sky+HD Box
You shouldn't need to call sky to pair the card with the box. Afaik it's ok to use any box with your sky card.

Re: New Sky+HD Box
Did you pair it in the end, Wayne?
Anytime... Dunno, never use it. I always leave it disabled.

Re: New Sky+HD Box
Anytime and Sky+ can sometimes take a while to turn on, and Anytime records overnight so you might not see anything there for a couple of days

Re: New Sky+HD Box
All Sorted , First they tried to charge me £65 for a service call because they said that the box was faulty (this was an off shore call centre), phoned back the second time and got through to Scotland, turns out that when I phoned to pair the card to the box, they selected the wrong type of box (a Sky+) instead of a Sky+HD box, they realized the problem, sorted it and canceled the engineer, I now have all my recording features

Re: New Sky+HD Box
Yeah, I've always found Sky's off-shore call centre to be absolutely useless. Better to re-dial & hope for Scotland!

Re: New Sky+HD Box
But the thing was, to try and get the + features working the off shore call centre had me do planner rebuilds, full system resets etc, when I could record to the freesat channels (i.e. ITV, BBC etc), but not my subscribed ones.

Sounds like they use the same off shore call centre as VM.
