Why is it that Virgin Media's existing customers never seem to benefit from prices and packages that new customers are afforded?
I have been with VM for 8yrs, since ntlworld days, when I want to upgrade my router I am told that I need to pay for it...
If you have a problem with your present router then it would be replaced FOC.
Just because new customers are getting Wireless N D-links does not improve their services nor will it improve yours. Therefore why should they give you one?

I dipped my hand in my pocket and brought my own instead of going cap-in-hand to my provider. Why you may (or may not) ask? Because I get to choose what equipment goes on my network.
Surely its far easier\cheaper (in the long run) to pop down to PC world than go begging to VM
