Been given an old HP laptop that had Win 10 on it. Thought I'd do a clean reinstall but for some reason, even though I have Win 10 on a bootable USB, it installs Win 7 instead. Then it won't install 10, keeps asking to put the disk in. Any ideas why it won't just install Win 10 from the beginning? Thanks.
Sounds like its booting from a recovery partition rather than the bootable USB with 10 on it.
Maybe you need to change the boot order in the bias, and i assume you will have to buy a licence for Win10 seeing you are using it on a new computer unless you come across another way of activating it?
Nah, turns out the USB had Win 7 on it, not 10, can't remember why I needed 7 , but it's sorted now. If I could delete this embarassing post, I would. Sorry.
