Is a higher upload possible right now?
VM have been stuck at 20Mb upload for about 2 years now, can they support more?
I have seen a number of people on here report that the amount of channels for upload has increased to 4, and in many cases with 64qam.
Myself I have had 4 channels for a while which have switched from 3x64qam and 1x16qam.
Now this has changed to 4x16qam, is a higher upload possible on my connection?
An increase to 30Mb would be something at least, when you consider that is the same offered to base packages with g.fast on the openreach platform.

Re: Is a higher upload possible right now?
the extra capacity is definitely there now that they have done the work which you have eluded to above but at the moment it is a question of how much because recently they removed stm on the upstream and they probably want a period of time to accurately assess how much more bandwidth/traffic it is costing them. Tbh I don't see any upstream increases (e.g. to 10:1) on the current system/packages as we currently have them and I think we'll have to wait till to they announce the docsis 3.1 rollout later this year or early next year before we see something exciting like 500/50.

It's compatible because 3.1 is compatible with 3.0 devices, but the Hub3 itself is DOCSIS 3.0.

Re: Is a higher upload possible right now?
Ya, i think Igni has said in the past that they'll be able to put a lot of hardware and technology in the network to get everything setup and running in the background because it is all 3.0 compatible but when we actually transition to a 3.1 service we'll need new cpe. There is a thread and link somewhere to a new 3.1 arris gateway which liberty global are trialling in somewhere like Holland.

Higher upload is possible, just not available, like many, I'm waiting for it to appear.

Re: Is a higher upload possible right now?
You probably have more chance of getting FTTP than better upload speeds with Virgin. As much as I generally like Virgin and have been with them since the late 90's the one area they do fail majorly in is upload speeds.
Even on the top tiers the upload speed is barely acceptable in 2018, the lower tiers is a bit of a joke at this point.
50 / 3
100 / 6
200 / 12
350 / 20
Most average people don't care though, so until it becomes mandatory to compete with local companies which are installing fibre in residential areas I can't ever see upload speed becoming a major priority.

Re: Is a higher upload possible right now?
The current super hub 3 can only use 20 downstreams and 4 upstreams but Virgin are now using 24 to 30 downstreams but only 4 upstreams . Docsis 3.1 will help with the upstream issue but a lot of work on the network is needed in some areas

Re: Is a higher upload possible right now?
Can't see this happening until g.fast is way more widespread and Virgin actually have something to compete with, upstream wise

Re: Is a higher upload possible right now?
SH3 appears to do 24 downstreams, I also have 24.
