Yeah saw these on a few tech sites I visit.

I think they are being silly releasing this year. 4k still hasn't really taken over from HD yet and there will be nothing at all that you will be able to watch in 8k for many years.

Agreed, and I don't think a lot of people have 8K eyes. I think the perceived picture quality increase would be minimal.

Yes, surely they will come a time where it will be pointless improving TV picture quality any further because our eyes won't be capable of appreciating it.

Perhaps the future will then be actual eye modifications

I imagine that an 8k, HDR OLED TV would probably be the best that we can do with our eyes at their existing 'specifications'.
