Advice needed with ceiling lights
I'm looking to replace the lights that are in my bedroom and living room with what I want as I have always hated these lights ever since we moved in.
I would like to replace these inset lights with flush light fittings now my question would I be better getting an electrician or would hubby be able to do this job.
If I need a electrician approximately how much do you think we are talking per light fitting?
We will be looking to replace the bedroom light with the drop light, and in the living room the two reset lights would be replaced with two crackle light fittings.
If hubby could do this himself would this be of use/helpful to convert these light fittings https://www.amazon.co.uk/Westinghous.../dp/B00FGQ19LC tbh I just don't know so really do need some advice here.

Re: Advice needed with ceiling lights
All depends on how confident your husband is at doing this, job would need weighing up, would any extra wiring be required for the job.
Cost to fit by a local electrician, if you buy the fitting and then ask them to add them, you are probably talking between £60-100 per light fixture. They would probably charge by the hour.

Re: Advice needed with ceiling lights
Are the original lamps mains 240v ac or 12 volt dc?
That link is for 120v fittings, not UK standard.

Re: Advice needed with ceiling lights
@ Mick local electrician it is then.
@ Taf never noticed not UK standard hubby said we will just get someone who knows what they are doing as he is ok with a straight swap but he said this is a job for a electrician as this would be out with his comfort zone.
Thank you both for your feedback very much appreciated ☺

Re: Advice needed with ceiling lights
For easy installation access would be needed from above. (Lifting floor boards etc) Otherwise it's somewhat more tricky using fishtapes etc.

Re: Advice needed with ceiling lights
If you can buy the Philips hue bulbs, yes they are expensive but you can remotely turn them on/off.
I have 9 currently and will buy more as required.

Re: Advice needed with ceiling lights
I had eight flush fitted LED lights installed in my Kitchen (by an electrician) and it cost me about £250, inc the cost of the lights.

Re: Advice needed with ceiling lights
Easy to do if you have the know how. Remember to turn the juice of to the lights first.
