Curious - New VM BB Trials ....

Just curious about the new BB trials in these specific areas;

Andover, Baguley, Middlesbrough, Reading, Stockton-on-Tees, Swansea

I wonder what VM are planning ?

Of course, anyone on the trial will not be able to talk about it

Re: Curious - New VM BB Trials ....

My bet is IPv6 and/or VoIP.

Or perhaps some new router with different WiFi.

To me, limited areas would suggest trials of Docsis 3.1 (and possibly associated higher speeds), just like Docsis 3.0 was first trialed in select areas.

Would be nice if it was. Presumably the areas selected would have networks that are ready for Docsis 3.1 deployment? If that is what the trial is for, which no one would be able to confirm

We know that the operator is preparing their IPv6 rollout plan for 2018 and they’re always considering the next speed boost, as well as the possibility of DOCSIS 3.1 tests, future routers.. and the list goes on.

The teesside (stockton on tees/middlesbrough) area just changed to 4 bonded upstreams, that maybe something that has effect with the trialing?

Re: Curious - New VM BB Trials ....

yeah, whereas before they couldn't give a **** about upload speed I imagine that if they are trialling voip they'll put some qos in place. They'll have worked out:

x households x 70kbits/sec = x upstream bandwidth

and they haven't got it atm.

Re: Curious - New VM BB Trials ....

Our area in stockton on tees is suffering from utilisations issues, so it probably something to do with that.
