virgin wireless advice
my mums wired modem is broken, so I stupidly said I would get her a wireless modem, and set it up. As I am with another provider, I purchased a wireless modem, set it up quite easily.
Am I right in thinking I need a wireless router and modem? I purchased a wireless router, but not sure if I need anything else.
Thanks

Re: virgin wireless advice
You need a cable wireless router and a Virgin modem.

Re: virgin wireless advice
The modem they should give you it for free. The router you'll have to buy.

Re: virgin wireless advice
You can buy the router from anywhere, just make sure it does not have a built in adsl modem.

Virgin supply the cable modem as part of the service.
If your mum's modem is broken, she needs to get onto Virgin & get a replacement.

Re: virgin wireless advice
I'm pretty sure I got my wireless router free from VM. I had the stuff sent out, and fitted it myself without an engineer even having to visit.

Re: virgin wireless advice
Virgin do offer a wireless router, sometimes they will make a charge for that, but at least then they would claim to support it. Alternatively you can buy your own router, which VM wouldn't support. As others have said make sure it's cable compatible i.e. uses a separate modem which VM must always supply.

Re: virgin wireless advice
From your mother's wireless?
Unfortunately there's no way, the wireless range isn't adequate for some multi floor homes, nevermind huge landscapes
