Counterstrike & Windows volume settings

Whenever I play CS:Source it always sets the selected recording input to "wave" each time the map starts - HL2 also does this IIRC.
As I use Ventrilo when playing with my mates it's really annoying to have to switch back to Windows every map and click on "microphone", otherwise nobody can hear me.
Is there an option within CS or a registry hack to stop it doing this?
I've turned off voice within CS itself.

Does it do the same thing when voice is turned on in CS? That way it will have to set the recording to microphone.

Re: Counterstrike & Windows volume settings

No it doesn't, there must be some way to fix this because it must be a common problem.
