Amd Ryzen 2700x Temperature

Im wondering if anyone here has one of these chips and what sort of temperature they are seeing from theirs.

Im using the Wraith Prism that came with the CPU and have even tried different thermal paste and i cannot get the CPU to idle under 51*c.

Anyone have any ideas short of changing the fan what else i can try as these fans are meant to be good unless overclocking which i am not doing.

Re: Amd Ryzen 2700x Temperature

I don't have one, but . .

I've obviously no idea of your case set up, but you need a good airflow throughout the case - sometimes the air flow can become 'disrupted' by untidy cables, extra large GFX cards etc.

The weather we're experiencing this week will also mean the ambient air temperature will be warmer than 'normal' which won't help with cooling

Check your front/rear/side/top case fans are working, and in the right direction.

Apart from that, too much thermal paste can cause poor temperature management too, although I presume you know that anyway

Re: Amd Ryzen 2700x Temperature

I would say that it probably isn't important to get it low when idle (the readings may not even be accurate), the important thing is the temperature when it is under load.

Have you checked your bios settings? Maybe it slows the fan down when idle.

Re: Amd Ryzen 2700x Temperature

Average temp reports I've gathered are 35-40s on the stock cooler so I'd say something is amiss here.

Personally I'd have started it with a Hydro cooler anyway, a Corsair H series.

If you've got a Facebook account I'm am member if this group https://www.facebook.com/groups/3222...?ref=bookmarks

PC and pc parts for sale UK

They do have a sales page but also a general page and people post all the time asking for general help. it's a pretty active group. they maybe able to swing some answers your way.

I'm running a 4690k stock speeds with a H100i v2 AIO cooler and my idle temps are around 25/28c apart from summer temps at the moment its sitting around 34c. thats on slow fan speeds though.

I know AMD chips run hotter but 51c it above normal.

What case is it sat in and have you checked to see if the fan is mounted right?
