Does Ultimate Oomph Need renaming?
I can't help thinking, that due to recent changes, perhaps the Ultimate Oomph package needs renaming. I would suggest it be split into two separate packages, called something like:-
1/ The Ultimate Oomph for newbies everything included for a very low price in order to suck you in but wait until you come to renewal time and see how our attitude changes towards you package.
2/ The Ultimate Oomph for long standing loyal customers who thought they were paying top dollar for the top package only to discover if they wanted to stay on the top package and get Sky Movies in 4k they were going to get stung for an extra £6 per month not to mention Sky Sports in 4k which was promised in 2020 so is at least 7 months late or perhaps 19 months late depending on your point of view which if it does ever arrive we'll probably try and shaft you for another £6 per month for that just because we can package.
They would be my suggestions, possibly slightly too wordy but what do others think?

Virgin charge for HD too, it's just that it's a hidden charge like the 'free' BT Sport.

Sorry but l think Richard is correct as l recall bt sport was ' pushed' as free extra at the time it was launched as far as l recall. Getting old so perhaps my memory is going. However when l rang up and said l had no use for it my cost went down . Out of contract at the time. So l read that as a hidden cost if not an 'increase' as such .

BT sport was added and EVERYONE had to pay for it. I tried to not pay (and therefore not be able to see it) but their stance was that it was "very good value for money".
When rebates were announced when BT sports became almost barren near the start of the pandemic, I thought "Let them try to charge me for it when it returns". When BT started to fill up again, and the charge returned, I called asking NOT to be charged for it. Nope, EVERYONE has to pay....

Pretty sure when it was added to my XL package I didn’t pay any more…

No, nobody did.
However Virgin’s refund strategy was to generously offer everyone the price difference between XL equivalent and the package below.
Idiots decided to use that figure to pretend we all pay £9.25 a month for BT Sport regardless of whether we watch it which is palpably untrue.

You didn’t. VM has always made it clear that BT Sport was added free of extra charge.

Re: Does Ultimate Oomph Need renaming?
Like the free broadband speed upgrades, prices go up shortly after.
From a commercial point of view, it's obvious that it's not going to be free and will be charged for in whatever guise.

I regard any charge as hidden when a separate charge isn't itemised.

Well, prices go up every year with inflation, so it’s not really that simple.
However, it is fair to say that we are all paying for BT Sport one way or another.

I posted about Sky charging for HD. Richard replied adding BT which I had not mentioned. My further reply was just about HD and not BT
