Help with my D-Link DL-524

Hello, i brought a D-Link DL-524 about 2 weeks ago, my internet is running very slow downloading at 10kb/s but when i unplugged it i'm downloading 120 kb/s i'm running on NTL Cable modem and i'm using a wired connection and my brother is using wirelss connection it happens the same with him too.

Has the router correctly identified the connection speed with the modem ethernet port? You have fully powered off the modem and router / PCs when changing the connections over?

Presumably the wireless in encrypted so nobody else can leech from you.

I have done a reset cycle and changed ethernet port, yes our router has got a password on. ive just noticed on Limewire it works fine but on other programs like Internet Explorer and Internet games its running slow.

That suggests you might need to look at the connection settings in IE itself. Is it detecting the gateway and stuff correctly?

Ive messed around with settings in IE but nothing has changed, its got my connection fine, ive noticed that when i'm not using the internet it runs at 1bps and jumps to 40bps when i'm using IE is their anyway to keep it full on?

opps sorry yeah it is DI-524 and no i don't keep limewire running in the background. Thanks for the help
