Re: Cable Forum Vaccinations
Missus and I have just had our invites. In Scotland they just send you a date rather than asking you to phone for an appointment (or are there some English NHS regions doing it that way too?). So we will get done in a week or so.

How does that work if you can't make the said date? In England they offer you a choice of locations, dates and times

The letter details date, time and location (which is a GP surgery, but not our own). It says if this is acceptable we don’t need to call ahead, just show up on time. It also strongly encourages us to take the appointment that has been made. It then does say we can change it if it’s not suitable. However, the strategy seems to be to try to engage more people by just telling them where and when to show up, without even the effort of making an appointment.

Both my invites came from a phone call from my local Doctors Surgery in England, i did actually book my 2nd jab online but cancelled it after they phoned me so i could go to the Vaccination Centre a few miles away.

Both our invites came from text messages sent to us from our local medical health group.

In Wales we get a time, date and location by letter.
Mine are at the GP surgery, but the missus and twins were at a leisure centre an easy drive away.
But the centre is now Pfizer-only, so the missus was invited for 9am on the other side of the city. That would mean driving in rush hour traffic right through the logjams in the centre. So I spent 5 hours trying to get them to answer the phone so that it could be changed to mid-afternoon.
5 HOURS!!!!

Our surgery has dire hold music that makes any sane person want to go on a gun rampage.

The hotline just says, after a long preamble in English and Welsh, "No-one is able to take your call" then cuts you off.
When you finally get into the top 20 of the queue you get "You are number 20 in the queue" *music* "You are number 20 in the queue" *music* You are number 19 in the queue" *music*......

Re: Cable Forum Vaccinations
So you can't book online? Good old devolution.
That said, Wales is 10% ahead of the other nations for first doses, so they must be doing something right.

Population numbers are probably why.
England 56,000,000
Scotland 5,500,000
Wales 3,150,000
Northern Ireland 1,890,000

It seems to vary by region I think, I'm in England too.
For both jabs I got a text message with a website link to book it.
No choice of location, but just a couple of dates to choose from & then some times to pick.
Same for my wife, and we are at different GP surgeries.

Re: Cable Forum Vaccinations
Still none the wiser as to how I'll find out about my 2nd jab.
Had my first in March whilst I was living in Cardiff. I've since moved and am now in a different health borough. The place I went to originally won't change my address as technically I'll no longer be under their 'jurisdiction'.
I rang the Welsh NHS helpline number about jabs who told me to ring back at the start of May and they'll be able to tell me over the phone when my date is.
I rang them, quite unexpectedly nobody knew anything about anything and told me to ring 2 weeks later - today.
This morning I get told it's "likely to be" the 30th May but to ring a week before just to be sure. As they "might" be able to tell me then. So not exactly "sure" then.
