Amazon prime Hisense n6800 tv?

I've posted this in a few forums hoping I can get the right info.

I've bought a 50" hisense 4K tv but I don't have a 4k bluray player yet so figured I would try amazon prime but all the 4k content I have tried all say it's playing back in 1080p.

Is this false advertising on amazon or it is my BB connection 200mb.

hoping to shed some light on it?

Re: Amazon prime Hisense n6800 tv?

Could be wrong but I swear UHD prime content is only supported on specific devices despite the content being available for everyone to see. I believe the UHD section is just movies they have in all formats but upon playing will scale to the maximum resolution available to the supported TV and takes into account bandwidth.

Quote:
Ultra High Definition (UHD or 4K) offers a "4K" picture resolution that is four times greater than HD.

Supported Devices
At this time, UHD playback is supported on the following Prime Video devices:

Amazon Fire TV (2nd Generation)
Samsung Ultra HD TVs (2014 or later models)
Sony Ultra HD TVs (2014 or later models), and Sony Xperia XZ Premium mobile devices
LG Ultra HD TVs (2014 or later models)
Vizio Ultra HD TVs (2014 or later models)
Xbox One S
Internet Speed & System Requirements
You need an Internet connection of at least 15 Mbps to watch videos in UHD.

You may also need to upgrade the firmware for your compatible Ultra HD TV or streaming device to the latest version. For more information, go to About Updating Your Device Firmware.
This would seem to suggest that it's not available on every TV. The Fire TV box should rectify this but that's another 60 quid. Note that the Stick will not output at 4K. Just the box.

With this in mind I'd say your TV is unsupported.

Re: Amazon prime Hisense n6800 tv?

What model do you have?

Also, do you have a surround sound system / soundbar connected to the TV? My soundbar is from 2011, so doesn’t support 4K (replacement to be ordered).

Re: Amazon prime Hisense n6800 tv?

Thanks.

So, it’s a Smart TV - what else do you have attached to it?

Re: Amazon prime Hisense n6800 tv?

Yeah it's the 50" Hisense N6800 4K

Connected via Wifi. it has Netflix,Amazon, Youtube and a couple of other short cuts on the remote the rest of the stuff is on the apps Manager of the TV.

I did notice when going to tv shows in amazon then scroll down they have a UHD section about 10 tv shows inc Grandtour that show in 4K

I've not seen any films come up in 4K though so I guess it's a 4K fire stick to view them which I don't think I'll be bothering with.

I've tried youtube on my tv but although it says 4K on the video I've noticed my TV doesn't show the HDR picture options (cinema day HDR, Standard HDR) which this option pops up on amazon when UHD is played

(I've got steam link attached to the TV and a Bluray 5.1 sound system but its 7 year old now)

Re: Amazon prime Hisense n6800 tv?

Not all 4k YouTube videos are hdr. You would have to search for HDR in the YT search.

Try it without the Sound System attached - I had the same challenge, and it came up in 4K on my Sony Bravia 4K TV when I removed the soundbar (equally old) from the equation.

Re: Amazon prime Hisense n6800 tv?

Running a Fire TV UHD on a Polaroid 4K and it streams Netflix and Primes select titles flawlessly.

Can confirm though that it didn't support it via TVs built in app and would only output Prime in 4K via the box. This isn't the case for YouTube and Netflix though that output at 4K across a massive range of devices.

There's a handful of options available as I've suggested before. The Fire TV box (Not stick) Apple TV, Xbox One S and above. So in reality honestly not quite worth it right now given there's only about 10 titles on Amazon and a handful on Netflix ready to stream in UHD. I've just done it for when stuff gets gradually added and because the Fire TV features are a far better Smart device than the default OS that comes with the TV.
