samsung mini galaxy
is there anybody out there that can help me with a problem im having with my mobile (a samsung mini galaxy).Ive got unlimited texts so ive been forwarding quite a few on, only to find out that i have been charged 40p per text.I rang virgin media up to complain about this and there saying its because the text is longer than 160 characters! So i say look nearly all my text are over that,so everytime i send one of these text your going to charge me 40p, how can that be unlimited! you are limiting me to 160 characters. Can somebody explain this to me and is there a way around it!!!!!

Re: samsung mini galaxy
I found with my Galaxy S that when you reached your limit for messages in a conversation (200 default) it started sending replies as MMS. You will get charged for these!

Re: samsung mini galaxy
Use the counter which shows how many characters you have used so when you are just under 160 characters send your text then continue with another text.
The 160 limit is the industry standard across all networks as this is the format all handsets use, so it is down to you how ensure that you do not send a text longer than 160 characters because you will be charged how ever much you argue as it is in the terms and conditions.

Re: samsung mini galaxy
If you have the same settings options as the S3:
Quote:
In Messaging Settings/MMS Settings/Creation Mode you can prevent sms being automatically converted by selecting Restricted. You can also select Warning to alert you that it'll be converted (and also tick the warning field below).
Hope this helps.

Re: samsung mini galaxy
Try using Whatsapp.
I use it to friends in Northern Ireland, free over wifi.

Re: samsung mini galaxy
Just to confirm it is phone settings dependent based on the sms/mms. While I was with Virgin Mobile I often sent long sms messages that went over the limit and split into 2 messages, they never charged me any extra.
Some phones come with different default settings. Not something you would think of changing. Just a shame it was a month of getting charges before you found out!
