Sky Sports reduced to £8.
Sky are now offering all of the Sky Sports channels for £8 with an 18 month contract. This isn't far off the price of £5.99 for one SD channel when Sky Sports started to charge in the early 90's!
I imagine they must have had a surge of customers cancelling to push them to do this:

I've taken a look to see if Virgin Media are matching this, but can't see anything online. Has anyone had a similar offer when ringing to cancel because of the suspension of some sports due to the effects of the Coronavirus?

Thanks for that, this confirms that it must be customer specific, it does show how low they are prepared to go though.

The greedy buggers should be reducing everyone's subs if they have the sports package!

Wouldn't describe them as greedy, in reality it takes something like this to show the price is high but not unreasonable.
However with virtually all sport cancelled for the foreseeable future they do need to reduce all sports subs to reflect lack of content.

Next Thursday we should know more when the Premier League will hold an emergency meeting to establish plans for the remainder of the season.

Re: Sky Sports reduced to £8.
In business, it's always better to give a complimentary product as opposed to a discount because it costs the business less than what it's worth to the customer.
Perhaps, whilst many are stuck at home and there's no football, Sky/VM etc could temporarily be given permission to unlock the movie channels to Sky Sports subscribers.
I imagine that this might appease a lot of unhappy sports subscribers. Who knows, they might carry on subscribing when the football returns. I had them essentially for free for a year and only found a handful of decent films, but that's down to my personal taste.

A free movie sub does nothing for me - had one for 12 months, never found time to watch anything - no real interest.
As the only sport left is Rugby League, I believe Sky/Virgin are skating on thin ice as they aren't supplying the advertised sports (they were still accepting new subscribers of yesterday - Really??)
I think they should do the decent thing and reduce subs to a nominal £1pm until normal service is resumed.

Re: Sky Sports reduced to £8.
Anyway i'm calling bs on this £8p/m deal i think it's photoshopped, i've asked several people in the office today who have a connection with SKY and all have said no such deal exist the cheapest is £15p/m.

I doubt that Virgin would reduce or refund unless Sky did the same for Virgin. I can’t see Virgin taking on such a huge loss when it’s Sky’s product.
