VM keeps dropping broadband, anyone else getting this?

VM keeps dropping broadband, anyone else getting this?

Hi All,

VM HUB3 in modem mode, connected to an Asus RT-88U router. Been working just dandy for months without issue. Then a few weeks ago noticed that the broadband would drop out and I'd get a red LED on the wan port of the Asus. Fix was to go into the Asus and simply turn the WAN off, then back on again. It would then reconnect (no router reboot needed)

Simple right? except this is happening (at first) upto 6 times a day. Of course VM Customer Hate line would spout the usual boilerplate anti-customer guff and deny anything was at fault.

I've had a week without issue, the problem simply vanished, but yesterday it was back, today so far I've had to reset the WAN interface on the Asus twice.

Oh, I'm running the Merlin OS on the Asus (384.12).

So, anyone out there got any ideas on how I would go about fault finding this issue or perhaps there's a known issue with VM in the KT15 (Surrey) area that I'm unaware of.

Welcome to the forum you're in the right place as there are plenty of people here than can offer advice, the first thing we need though are your modem stats, can you post them here for downstream and upstream? http://192.168.0.1

You may also try removing your router from the equation to see if that stops your issues.

The Asus router isn't going to be the problem and you need to be rebooting the shub to force it to reconnect to the network and channels. If there is an issue with noise on the upstream and the shub is unable to maintain its connection it will move to a different bonding group if one is available and give the appearance that the problem is no more.








If a mod picks this thread up it could probably do with moving to the VM Internet section where it will draw more attention because it isn't a lan/networking issue
