Re: Connected.. but not working!
And you have connected the way the manual states? In IE, tools, internet options, connection, LAN settings, have you got any information in the boxes or any boxes ticked?

No information in the boxes and none of the check boxes are ticked.

Re: Connected.. but not working!
If you type ipconfig /all into a cmd box on the laptop does it show the same information (more or less)?

Re: Connected.. but not working!
Have you manually specified any settings for your desktop PC before now? As your previous ipconfig info for the desktop shows a different subnet mask for some reason. Have you tried going into your control panel, system, hardware, device manager and removing the entry for the network adaptor (right click the entry and select uninstall) and then rebooting?

Re: Connected.. but not working!
If it had a red cross then it wasn't functioning correctly which would cause issues

Re: Connected.. but not working!
if that doesn't cure it open a command prompt and type in the following
netsh int reset all
but first try right clicking on the item with a red cross in it and clicking on "Enable"
although, in retrospect, the fact that it was listed in the ipconfig listing would indicate that windows thought it was running, and therefore can't be in a disabled state...
when you doubleclick it, is there an error listed?

Re: Connected.. but not working!
Sounds like you need to reload your motherboard drivers if possible, try right clicking each item and select update driver. If that fails can you tell us the make and model of PC?

Re: Connected.. but not working!
You did only right click and remove the item with the red icon ? Strange, the red cross just means the item is disabled for some reason. Did the PC come with CDs?
Would get the drivers for you but Mesh will only allow registered users on to the database

Re: Connected.. but not working!
Interesting, I looked on the website and you can search for drivers but it doesn't have any for ethernet controller, or SM bus controller

Re: Connected.. but not working!
Anything for the motherboard? Is the ethernet port built into the motherboard or seperate? Did you look for any CDs that came with the PC. It's strange that windows couldn't find them as they are normally saved in the system folder and protected.
